DUTIES: This mid-level position provides an opportunity for a librarian with experience in managing electronic resources and serials to coordinate the acquisition, access and management of print and electronic serials. Randall Library uses a variety of commercial services to assist in serials management, including Innovative Interfaces Inc.’s Millennium ILS (including CASE, ERM and Web Bridge), EBSCO’s EBSCOnet, OCLC’s Connexion, and Swets’ Scholarly Stats. The successful candidate will have familiarity with the serials industry, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent technology skills with openness to emerging technologies. Major activities for this position include communicating with vendors and publishers, supervising 2 full time staff, trouble-shooting access problems, and cataloging and maintaining holdings for print and electronic serials. The normal work schedule for the position holder is 9 AM - 6 PM with a rotation schedule for evenings and weekends in a public services area. This schedule also has to be flexible to accommodate class schedules, travel to and from distance education sites, tours, and/or talks for regional groups and associations, and other pertinent events.

Responsibilities include collection development and information literacy instruction, development of research guides and tutorials, serving as the department’s ambassador for overarching issues for the university’s distance learner and creating general online tutorials, especially in the context of serving distance learners.

DUTIES: The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks a knowledgeable, innovative, collaborative, and service-oriented individual for the position of University Archivist.  Reporting to the Associate University Librarian for Special Collections, the Archivist will provide vision and leadership for the University Archives and Records Management Services (UARMS) department.  The Archivist supervises the Electronic Records Archivist, as well as students, project staff and interns as appropriate.

The University Archivist will build on and maintain a strong and responsive program for educating and working with UNC schools, departments, and offices to ensure the scheduling of University records in accordance with State of North Carolina public records laws and records schedules, and will work closely with the emerging Carolina Digital Repository on the ingestion and preservation of University electronic records of long-term value. 

The University Archivist will work collaboratively across the library, including with the Special Collections Research and Instructional Services department to support research in UNC history and will have lead responsibility for providing administrative reference service for UNC administrators, faculty, and staff.  The Archivist may serve on reference desks and work occasional evenings and weekends.  In consultation with the Special Collections Technical Services department and the Conservation Lab, the Archivist will develop priorities for the processing and conservation of University records.  Additionally, the Archivist will also work with the Library's Development Office to help identify, cultivate, and participate in the solicitation of prospects, and to steward relationships with current donors to ensure regular contact and reporting. DUTIES: The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks an experienced, collaborative, and innovative individual to lead the Research and Instructional Services Department (R&IS) of the Louis Round Wilson Special Collections Library. Demonstrated skills in accuracy, knowledge of library subject areas and Dewey Decimal system, and performing tasks simultaneously and/or in sequence.
DUTIES: Position will be responsible for receiving and cataloging all library materials.  Duties will include but are not limited to: Opening and verifying all shipments, downloading electronic MARC records from OCLC, updating MARC record with locally assigned information, affixing barcodes and labels and sending items for processing, correcting errors in database, printing memorial labels, inventorying supplies and reporting orders to supervisors.
