| DUTIES: | The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks an innovative, collaborative, and service-oriented individual for the position of E-Science Librarian. The E-Science Librarian will serve as the subject librarian for chemistry. The Librarian will work with the science research community and library colleagues to develop and sustain resources and services that assist faculty and students with preserving their own and accessing others' research data, with a focus on chemical informatics. | DUTIES: | The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks an experienced, creative, and collaborative individual for the position of Assistant Keeper of the North Carolina Collection Gallery. Located in the Louis Round Wilson Special Collections Library, the North Carolina Collection Gallery is a 3,000-square foot suite of exhibition areas and historic period rooms. It offers exhibitions and related programs that interpret North Carolina history, literature, and culture. Under the supervision of the Gallery Keeper, the Assistant Keeper will assist with the installation of exhibitions, develop and deliver statewide educational programs for both broad and targeted audiences, give guided tours of the Gallery, and help organize various promotional and outreach activities. The Assistant Keeper will maintain Gallery web pages and plan and help implement the expansion of the Gallery’s online presence, including the creation of online exhibits. Other responsibilities include assisting with the record-keeping and management of a collection of 22,000 historic objects and performing other administrative tasks and related duties. These include hiring, training, scheduling, and monitoring assignments for student assistants, and identifying equipment and supply needs. The North Carolina Digital Heritage Center is a new program, housed in the North Carolina Collection in the Wilson Special Collections Library. | DUTIES: | Western Carolina University’s Hunter Library seeks a Collection Development Librarian to provide leadership in acquiring library resources in a variety of formats and to assist in managing the Collection Development and Resources Management Unit, including direct supervision of acquisitions functions. This position will articulate the direction, balance and emphasis of all collections, as well as formulate policies. The Collection Development Librarian will coordinate and support the work of the liaisons to academic departments in their efforts to develop collections in their areas, and will direct the work of 2 support staff in acquiring library monographic materials. | DUTIES: | The North Carolina Biotechnology Center seeks a Library Technical Assistant (LTA) to continuously update data about the NC biotechnology industry in our Client Relationship Management system and to manage the library’s print collection. The LTA updates the Biotechnology Center’s database of biotechnology companies in the state by monitoring literature for updated information, editing data collected by annual surveys, and occasionally calling the companies. The LTA will manage print materials by shelving, labeling, checking in journals, and managing the circulation function including interlibrary loan. Additional tasks include news alerting for Center staff using RSS feeds, teaching staff about new technologies or resources, managing purchasing and invoicing functions, and answering brief reference questions. The LTA is also the first point of contact for phone calls and emails to the library, and will assist in greeting and giving tours to walk-in clients. |
