State Library of North Carolina: Digital Collections

The Digital Information Management Program (DIMP) was established in 2006 to identify and promote solutions to ensure long-term preservation and ready and permanent public access to born-digital and digitized information produced by (or on behalf of) North Carolina state government.

Staff in the DIMP work closely with all units within the State Library, and staff at the North Carolina State Archives to implement policies, standards, and practices that support public access to digital state government information. The DIMP also provides guidance and education to information creators within state government, and information providers in libraries, schools, and local governments. Finally, DIMP staff members coordinate their efforts with external agencies and organizations, as well as State Libraries and Archives throughout the country to develop, test, and implement criteria for all aspects of digital preservation.

The Digital Information Management Program is responsible for the administration of the Access to State Government Information Initiative (ASGII), an LSTA grant funded project, and oversees the State Library's Digitization Program and Digital Collections.
