The State Library of North Carolina has been a member of the Federal Depository Library Program since the early 20th century. The historic federal documents collection is made up of more than 500,000 items in a variety of formats. The primary areas of focus in our profile include: military history, US Census & demographics, statistical data, politics & law, people & cultures, environment, and business & economy.

— National Archives: Collection of Federal documents and materials created by the United States Federal government of legal or historical importance.

— Open CRS (Congressional Research Reports for the People): Access to full text reports.
— Thomas: Legislative information from the Library of Congress.
— U.S. Congressional Serial Set: Contains House and Senate Documents and the House and Senate Reports. The reports are from congressional committees dealing with proposed legislation and issues under investigation. The documents include all other papers ordered printed by the House or Senate. Portions are available digitally. Please contact reference staff for help with the print version of this set.

Science.gov is a gateway to more than 42 scientific databases and 200 million pages of science information with just one query, and is a gateway to over 2000 scientific websites from 18 organizations within 14 federal science agencies

— Census Bureau: Population clock, economic indicators, quick facts, census and American Community Survey information.
— Federal Agency Statistics:Links arranged by topic, geography, agency. Includes links to federal agency kids pages.
— Statistical Abstract: Authoritative and comprehensive summary of statistics on the social, political, and economic organization of the United States.
— STAT-USA: Authoritative business, trade, and economic information from across the Federal Government. Available in-library only.
