JOB SEARCH TOOLKIT was developed by the State Library of North Carolina with ongoing contributions from library staff across the state. This toolkit is designed to provide resources that help library staff respond to the increasing needs of job seekers in their communities. The toolkit includes links to Internet resources, NC LIVE career information and e-books, selected books, and what other libraries are doing.

CAREER INFORMATION AND PLANNING information on a variety of programs and services provided by the state to help citizens research educational and career opportunities and prepare for job searches. Resources linked include North Carolina's Career Resource Network, curriculum programs offered by the UNC system and the community college system, a job seeking skills handbook, and Teach4NC.

DISABILITYINFO.GOV is a comprehensive online resource managed by the U.S. Department of Labor and designed to provide people with disabilities quick and easy access to the information they need. There are several search tools, including one to assist in the identification of employment resources available in North Carolina.

DISLOCATED WORKERS TOOLKIT is an informational guide to assist during the transition from employment to re-employment. The kit includes initial tools that can help build bridges to organizations, Internet sites that provide valuable information and/or services to dislocated workers, and tools to assist in job searches.

NC TAKE CONTROL is a web site that offers free fact sheets on topics of interest to the many North Carolina families currently dealing with economic hardship. The fact sheets offer unbiased, researched based information on topics ranging from how to tell your family you've lost your job, to getting the best buy at the grocery store, to tips on preventing home foreclosure.

UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE INFORMATION provides answers to questions about applying for unemployment insurance (UI) benefits and allows for online registration for work and application for UI benefits.

WORK FIRST is based on the premise that parents have a responsibility to support themselves and their children. Through Work First, parents can get short-term training and other services such as benefit diversion and emergency assistance to help them become employed and self-sufficient.

YOUTH SERVICES 14-21 is a Workforce Investment Act (WIA) funded youth program that serves to connect young people with quality educational and employment opportunities. Youth Services offer a comprehensive year-round package of services including tutoring, alternative secondary school, summer employment, work experience, occupational skill training, and more.
