NC LIBRARY FOR THE BLIND AND PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED (NCLBPH) is a special public library that circulates books and magazines especially made for persons who cannot use regular printed material because of a visual or physical disability.

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR ELIGIBLE VIETNAM VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES Recipient must be a current resident of Wake County, Durham, Harnett, Lee, Franklin, Nash, Chatham, Johnson, or Granville counties in North Carolina who was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal for service in the Vietnam conflict, or a spouse, child, foster child, adopted child, grandchild, etc. of a Vietnam veteran.

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR VETERANS & THEIR FAMILIES In appreciation for the service and sacrifices of North Carolina’s war veterans, a four-year scholarship program at approved schools in North Carolina has been established for the qualifying children of certain class categories of deceased, disabled, combat or POW/MIA veterans.

VFW MILITARY FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP program provides fifty $1,500 scholarships each year to VFW members (minimum 2 years) who are currently serving in uniform or have been discharged within the thirty-six (36) months prior to the December 31 deadline each year.

INCOME TAX RELIEF. Cancellation of Certain Assessments and Abatement of Income Tax. Any assessment of income tax due prior to the time a person was inducted into the Armed Forces will be canceled and abated if the serviceperson was killed while a member of the Armed Forces or is receiving service-connected disability compensation. No interest is payable on refunds made under this section of the law.

WINSTON-SALEM REGIONAL VA OFFICE provides benefits and services in all program areas to veterans, servicepersons and reservists residing in North Carolina, including the National VA Home Loan Eligibility Center, which processes critical home loan benefit eligibility determinations for veterans located throughout the United States and overseas.
