North Carolina Wine & Grape Appreciation Month
Governor Perdue has declared September 2009 North Carolina Wine & Grape Appreciation Month!
Grape and wine production has a special place in North Carolina's history. North Carolina was the leading wine producer in the United States before Prohibition. Reports of scuppernong grapes in North Carolina date back to 1584. Wine vineyards existed in Bath and New Bern in 1737.
