The State Library is pleased to announce
the following awards for the 2003-2004 pilot program of Strengthening Library
Collections Grants. This pilot grant program is designed to help North Carolina public, academic
and school libraries develop or strengthen subject areas in their collection to
meet user needs. Libraries serving low-wealth communities and institutions are
given priority for this grant program.
One hundred seven (107) applications were considered for this pilot
program, with requests for funds totaling $2,004,129. Forty-three (43) grants have been approved for funding totaling
$779,880.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Funded libraries must not commit or expend any grant funds until the State
Librarian signs grant agreements.
