Career Enrichment Grant Program 2004-2005

Thank you for your interest in this new pilot program being offered for 2004-2005. Grant Information & Guidelines are now available (Word Document or .PDF). The online application form for each conference will be available below as the conference registration forms become available. Grant funds will support library staff attendance at the following conferences in 2004-2005:

At this time Career Enrichment Grants are available only for these three conferences.  If this grant program is offered beyond this pilot year, we'll be glad to consider other conference suggestions. <click here to send suggestions>. 

HOW TO APPLY

You may want to print this section to use as a checklist.

1. Determine Eligibility
This grant program is open to individuals who:
are full- or part-time, paid library staff (Friends, trustees, and volunteers are not eligible);
AND
are employed by any of the following eligible libraries:
  • public libraries that qualify for grants from the Aid to Public Libraries Fund;

  • community college libraries;

  • libraries serving the constituent institutions of the University of North Carolina (which includes libraries serving the Area Health Education Centers and the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics);
  • libraries serving the member institutions of North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities;
  • public schools with a qualified school library media center*;
  • qualifying state agency libraries*;
  • qualifying special libraries*.
* Public school, state agency, and special librarians will be required to complete and submit a form certifying eligibility (Appendix B, C, or D of the Grant Information & Guidelines). 2. Determine Registration Costs

Complete your Conference Registration Form (and submit a copy with your grant application).

We DO NOT intend for you to register before the grants are awarded and we DO NOT forward any registration materials to ALA.  We just need to see how the registration total was calculated.

3. Prepare Budget Worksheet (Appendix A of Grant Information & Guidelines)
You may want to print Appendix A and complete it for use when preparing online application.
4. Complete Online Grant Application Form
  • NCSLMA (application - CLOSED)
  • NCLA/SELA (application - CLOSED)
  • ALA Annual Conference (application)
5. Complete Signature Page

Once you have clicked submit in your online application, you will be prompted to print a signature page. Print this page, obtain required signatures, and submit via fax or mail with supporting documents.

6. Submit Supporting Documents (must be received by the grant application deadline).
  • Signature Page
  • Copy of Conference Registration Form
  • Eligibility Certification (required for public school, state agency, and special librarians; see  Eligibility).
