Database from the North Carolina State Data Center. Provides access to over 1200 data series from state and federal agencies. Coverage in broad areas such as census data, population and housing, vital statistics and health, social and human services, energy and utilities, and business and industry.

Digital Collections

Digital Collections The North Carolina Digital Collections, a joint project of the State Library and State Archives, provides online access to current and historical North Carolina state government information and North Caroliniana. The Digital Collections support instructional and research needs related to the history and culture of North Carolina by making many of the unique and valuable holdings of the State Library of North Carolina easily accessible via a fully searchable, online database.

Electronic Resources

Electronic Resources The State Library's research databases cover a broad range of topics including Genealogy, History, Demographics, and Health. The databases also provide users with access to popular newspapers and periodicals. Available to students and educators on-site.

The State Library maintains links to all North Carolina Colleges and Universities and Community Colleges, their libraries and, when one exists, their library school.

Government & Heritage Library

The Government and Heritage Library’s mission is to preserve and facilitate public access to state government information; advance the study, understanding, and appreciation of North Carolina’s cultural heritage; and provide library resources and services that support the operational needs of state government agencies.

NC ECHO

NC ECHO North Carolina ECHO, (Exploring Cultural Heritage Online), is the World Wide Web's doorway to the special collections of North Carolina's libraries, archives, museums, historic sites, and other cultural institutions. It is an evolving statewide, collaborative access to special collections and digitization project.

One of our most popular online resources, the NCpedia provides basic information about North Carolina, including state symbols, history, government and geography.

North Carolina Newspapers

North Carolina Newspapers Provides information on the North Carolina Newspaper Project (NCNP), a federally-funded program to microfilm North Carolina newspapers. Access a list of all NCNP newspapers (PDF document).
