Federated searching, remote access and NC LIVE

It is possible to search across a large number of the databases the Government and Heritage Library subscribes to in addition to many available through NC LIVE using a federated search engine called WebFeat. With WebFeat, remote access to many of these resources is also available to North Carolina state agency employees with library cards. To access it from outside the State Library of North Carolina, one will need to enter their library card number and last name. Some resources included in WebFeat that are not available through NC LIVE are JSTOR, LexisNexis Environmental, Library Literature and the African American Experience database.

Alternatively, it is still possible for state agency employees to access NC LIVE resources directly by going to the NC LIVE Web site, selecting "State Library of North Carolina" from the list of institutions and logging in with the current password.

Click here for a PDF handout with instructions on accessing electronic resources remotely. Contact the reference desk for more information or assistance with WebFeat or NC LIVE.
