By J. D. Vance

Talking Book Number: DB 85796

Large Print (Hardback) Book Number: LT 36883

I read this book back in February, but it’s been on my mind lately and I wanted to share my thoughts. I’m going to take this week to talk about my reaction to reading this title rather than just give a summary or synopsis.  What I got out of this book was a very detailed glimpse into the culture and the lives of people totally different from my own.  I’ve been thinking a lot about who we are as a society and a country, and it seems to me that we all have something to gain by learning about the experiences of people different from ourselves.  This book provides people a chance to do so, to learn more about the history and culture of Appalachian Hill People.  Hillbilly Elegy can be ordered online through the book links at the top, by calling NCLBPH and requesting a copy or by downloading the title from BARD. If you’re not a patron of our library and are not eligible for our services, please contact your local public library to obtain a copy of this title.
