What we do

The Library Development section is the extension wing of the State Library. Library Development helps North Carolina Libraries build and maintain services to their communities and fosters best practices in the library community. Library Development sponsors continuing education opportunities for library staff and administers grant programs to libraries including State Aid to public libraries and the NC Cardinal Consortium. Staff provide consulting services in the following areas: management, youth services, evaluation and assessment and technology. Each North Carolina county has a liaison consultant available for general inquiries and assistance. View the map to find your liaison and visit our staff page to learn more about each consultant's area of expertise.
