Professional Development Collection & Programming Kits

The State Library has a collection of professional development books that cover general librarianship, cataloging, weeding, personal communication, data visualization, strategic planning, leadership, etc., as well as 3 different types of programming kits.
Items circulate 8 weeksand titles are reserved and checked out to institutional accounts for each library system. These materials are available to North Carolina public and academic libraries.

Programming Kits:

  • Flow Circus Skill Toy Kits  are designed for ages teens and up to provide engaging programming particularly around team building and resiliency, but can be used for any number of other programming ideas.

  • There are two available National Geographic Giant Maps kits to help with geographic literacy programming for all ages:

    • North Carolina map – comes with its own uniquely created curriculum and activity supplies

    • The Solar System map – comes with a National Geographic-created curriculum and adapted activity supplies.

  • We have five Poverty Simulation kits available for checkout.

    • Kits contain everything you need to run a Community Action Poverty Simulation.
