Creating Effective Public Library Standards

The State Library of North Carolina is beginning the process of updating the 2012 Public Library Standards. Statewide standards aim to compliment local planning efforts allowing for responses to unique community needs while ensuring a consistent standard of library service across the state.  The 2012 version of the standards cover the key areas of: administration, facilities, human resources, resources and services.

Participation Opportunities

Focus groups will be held throughout the state beginning this fall to gather feedback and guidance to assist us in revising the Public Library Standards. These focus groups are open to staff of all levels and areas of work.

September 12: Kernersville Public Library, Registration
October 30: Pack Memorial Library Activity Room, Registration
January 15: Perquimans Library, Registration
February 5: Pender County Public Library, Registration
