Virtual History Fair

Description:

The North Carolina Government and Heritage Library, State Archives of North Carolina and the Friends of the Archives will be presenting a virtual family history fair on Saturday, October 15, 2016. We will be having four presentations that will be 30-45 min featuring such topics as using digital collections for genealogy, an overview of the collections and services of both Government and Heritage Library and the State Archives of North Carolina and much more!

We invite public libraries across North Carolina to participate by hosting viewing parties of the sessions at their locations. The sessions will be broadcasted via Livestream.com. In order to view the sessions you would need an Internet connection. Remote audience members will be able to ask questions to the presenters via Livestream.com. This is an opportunity for libraries to do their own programming in honor of October’s Family History Month. All libraries that participate will be able to submit information about their genealogy/local history collections. This information will be highlighted by the host institutions to a wider audience across the state and country. We will be sending copies of handouts and other materials related to this program to all libraries that will be participating.

More information coming soon. If you are interested in your library participating please contact Rebecca Hyman, Educational Programming and Outreach Librarian, Rebecca.hyman@ncdcr.gov or 919.807.7454 by August 30, 2016.
