North Carolina Government and Heritage Library Hosts Demographic Data Day Oct. 24

Researchers, grant writers and others who use demographic data are invited to a free program Oct. 24 in Raleigh to learn ways to access this data for North Carolina.

The North Carolina Government and Heritage Library will host “Data Day,” Wednesday, Oct. 24, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the auditorium of the State Library/Archives building at 109 East Jones St., Raleigh. The event will also be livestreamed at

“Data Day” will help attendees learn to explore North Carolina statistics by subject; find socio-economic data even for many small areas; locate single age information and county population data up to 2037; and find timely, reliable demographic data without waiting a decade.

Topics include:

  • The Census Bureau’s American Community Survey

  • LINC: Log into NC database

  • The State Demographer’s estimates and projections

  • The 2020 Census

Presenters will include Michele Hayslett, Numeric Data Services and Data Management Librarian at UNC Chapel Hill, and Bob Coats, Governor’s Census Liaison.
