Library Director - Caldwell County Public Library


Plans, organizes and directs all phases of County Library programs and services; works in cooperation and coordination with County officials, staff, library support organizations and patrons in planning the progressive development of the library; develops and executes strategies and programs to develop and maintain positive image and relations between the Library, Library staff and residents of the County which may be accomplished by, but not be limited to, a willingness to be involved by participation in community civic and cultural organizations and activities. Prepares and makes oral presentations before civic and community groups to promote library staff, programs and services and to facilitate a positive library image within and outside the community. Supervises and conducts personnel administration duties including hiring and terminating, training, evaluating, and scheduling that is inclusive, fair, and supportive of staff development. In coordination with the Supervisory Librarians, supervises the work of library staff ensuring adherence to established policies, procedures and standards; advises and assists subordinates, as necessary, in resolving non-routine problems. Conducts staff conferences and meetings to provide guidance in the development of new programs and activities. Coordinates the purchase and distribution of materials and supplies; maintenance of library equipment and facilities; plans, implements and supervises expenditures and administers and manages the Library operating budget.

Qualifications: Requires Master’s degree in library and information science from an ALA accredited institution or from regionally-accredited programs of higher education in North Carolina. Possession of (or qualified for) North Carolina Public Librarian Certification. Five years of experience as a librarian within a public library setting. Minimum of three years of supervisory experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Salary: $66,659 - $103,32
