Dean of Library Services - Mary Livermore Library, University of North Carolina at Pembroke


Leading a team of twenty, the Dean of the Mary Livermore Library reports directly to the Provost and is responsible for providing strong leadership for all library services and establishing a shared vision and developing strategic priorities that align with the mission, vision, and goals of the University. The successful candidate brings a proven track record of library growth along with a keen understanding of how to integrate new and emerging technologies with traditional library resources and services to best serve students, faculty and the community. They will promote a collaborative environment within the library, across the university and the UNC system, and throughout the community. They should have a record of effective academic leadership, scholarship, teaching, and public service. Strong communication skills and the ability to foster a collaborative environment is essential.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in library science from ALA-accredited program and five or more years of progressively responsible administrative experience. Demonstrated experience with budgeting and a record of sound fiscal management, knowledge of and experience with current and emerging library technologies such as Ex Libris’ ALMA, evidence of scholarly and professional achievement, and evidence of planning for and managing a complex library operation.
