Education & Instruction Librarian - Government & Heritage Library, State Library of NC


The Education & Instruction Librarian will work closely with the Community Engagement Librarian and will serve as the GHL lead for education, instruction and staff training initiatives. This position will work with all library audiences including state agency employees, North Carolina researchers, educators, students, and genealogists. 

Duties include but are not limited to: conducting needs assessments and establishing learning outcomes for different audiences; developing and presenting instructional content; developing assessment tools to measure learner success; managing LibGuides for the library by collecting statistics, training staff, editing and approving new guides; leading the Education team and participating on the Outreach and Audience Engagement teams; building and maintaining sustainable, productive working relationships and communications between the GHL, stakeholders, and other groups; developing and participating in collaborative projects with groups inside the GHL, State Library of North Carolina, DNCR and outside groups; participating in outreach events during work hours, evenings, and Saturdays as needed; working regular shifts on the reference desk, chat reference, and weekend reference desk staffing and paging; and promoting the library's services and resources through social media. Occasional travel and occasional weekend work required.

Qualifications: Master's degree in library and information science or a related discipline from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of professional librarian experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
