Director of Library Services - Renfro Library, Mars Hill University


The Director is responsible for the administration and operation of the university library, including budgeting, strategic planning, collection development and personnel management. In this position, the Director provides creative vision and strategic leadership in formulating library programs and integrating print-based information materials with digital resources and a student-centered environment in support of the university’s values and mission of teaching, scholarship and service. This person will represent the library and its staff to the university administration as well as represent the library and university to external constituents. The Director will collaborate with other student services, including those housed in the library facility, to include academic support services, the Center for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and the Center for Engaged Teaching and Learning.

Qualifications: Masters of Library Science from a program accredited by the American Library Association. Professional library experience in academic libraries, including administrative experience. Knowledge of current issues facing academic libraries and higher education, including information literacy and library technology. Commitment to supporting scholarship and teaching, including the integration of library services and resources into academic programs. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Planning ability, ability to analyze problems and to work with others to implement solutions.
