Principal Cataloger - Hunter Library, Western Carolina University


This position assists with management of Unit: assigns materials to catalogers, resolves workflow problems, works with Unit Head to create new workflow and procedures as needed, and participates in documenting new workflow and procedures. The position also assists other staff with cataloging problems of all kinds; catalogs foreign language material, digital material, books, music, maps and other non-book materials as well as identifies and corrects problems in the WNCLN online catalog.

Qualifications: Required - Graduation from a four-year college or university and one year of experience in a library or archives and/or records management; or high school and five years experience in a library or archives and/or records management; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Preferred - Experience training staff; experience cataloging complex formats (e.g music scores, maps, realia); experience with cataloging software (e.g. III Sierra, OCLC Connexion, MarcEdit); knowledge of non-MARC metadata standards, including Dublin Core; experience with authority control.

Salary: $45,648 - $48,880
