Community Engagement / Outreach Coordinator - Gaston County Public Library

Description:

Develop a strategic outreach plan to meet the needs of customers who: cannot use the library in a traditional manner; do not have access to a physical branch in their community; and are underserved. Identify, pilot, and establish non-building based library service delivery models that further engagement and address barriers to library use and literacy. Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate community engagement and outreach programming for patrons of all ages and backgrounds. Use data, assessment tools, and community conversation to determine needs and translate those needs into action based on the Library’s strategic priorities. Use evaluation tools to evaluate and articulate the impact of programs and services. Coordinate outreach and community relations activities; lead cross-departmental Outreach team; provide training for Library staff on best practices for community engagement and outreach. Prepare and submit grant applications, project proposals and funding requests. Attend community meetings/events as representative of the Library.

Qualifications: An MLS from an ALA accredited institution preferred but not required. A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is required. Significant experience in community engagement, relationship building, and/or government relations. Experience and commitment to serving diverse populations and underserved populations. Familiarity/experience with libraries helpful but not mandatory.

Salary: $47,746 - $75,962
