Critical Cataloging with New Controlled Vocabularies

Descriptive Cataloging Webinar Series, Presented by Sonia Archer-Capuzzo

A number of controlled vocabularies have been revised and/or released in the last decade to provide uniform ways in which we can describe creator and/or audience identities and characteristics. This opens new possibilities for critical cataloging, allowing us to group together works by certain subsets of creators (e.g., books by women) or about certain groups of people (e.g., television shows featuring LGBTQ+ characters). In this webinar, you will be introduced to some of these vocabularies (focusing only on those that are freely accessible) and will view demonstrations of how to navigate and use them. This session is part of the Descriptive Cataloging Webinar Series, https://slnc.info/DCseries
