Metadata Archivist - Duke University Library

Description: Provides leadership and coordination for creation, management, and maintenance of archival and digital collections metadata in the David M. Rubenstein Rare Book and Manuscript Library. Collaborates with stakeholders to develop and implement processing, preservation, and description guidelines for reformatted and born digital collections, including the representation and discovery of such materials across various Duke Libraries’ platforms. Prioritizes development and implementation of inclusive metadata and description projects and policies in support of RL’s Guiding Principles of Description.

Qualifications: MLS from an ALA-accredited program, advanced degree, and/or relevant combination of education and experience. 3+ years research library experience; experience with using ArchivesSpace; archival and library metadata standards (DACS, EAD, RDA, MARC); scripting languages (XSLT, Python, Ruby); metadata tools such as MARCEdit and OpenRefine.

Salary: $60,000 - $80,000
