LSTA competitive grants over the past 3 years in North Carolina

The State Library of North Carolina (SLNC) receives an annual allotment of federal funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) through the Grants to States program authorized by Congress under the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) (20 U.S.C. § 9121). These funds are used to provide statewide library programs and services throughout North Carolina and to fund local library projects through a competitive grant program. Funding decisions are made in accordance with SLNC's Five Year Plan.

Competitive grants are awards that are given to library organizations to support local community projects.  Scholarship grants are awards that allow staff to attend conferences, webinars, and other training opportunities relevant to their work. Partner Statewide are grants that are awarded to library organizations across the state that provide statewide service.

*Note: Amounts in the table should not be totaled.  Due to the service area of some libraries that span multiple counties, awards are listed multiple times under each county served.  Partner Statewide awards are not included in the map.
