Our Acquisitions & Collections Division is a small team focused on creating a stellar, responsive collection to meet the needs of our very enthusiastic and active reading community. This management-level position is a key member of CHPL’s leadership team. Here’s what we are looking for:

An enthusiast for all aspects of library collections-acquisitions, selection, cataloging, and weeding 
A systems thinker
An experienced project manager

The purpose of this position is to oversee the maintenance of Chapel Hill Public Library’s physical and electronic materials. In addition to managing the work of a small team, this position is also responsible for selecting materials for our adult collection, managing a budget for materials including approving invoices and reconciling the budget with our Town’s Business Management department, reviewing suggestions for purchases, and occasional troubleshooting and administrative functions related to our ILS and Discovery Layer. 

Possibility of working a regular weekend shift per month.

Qualifications:

  • Masters of Library Science or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in managing a diverse team in Acquisitions & Collection 
  • Knowledge of: Town and Library policies and procedures, Integrated Library Systems (ILS), Cataloging & MARC data rules and conventions, Trends and best practices in collection management and development. 
  • Valid NC Driver’s License, Regular Class C.

Salary:

$69,763.00 - $92,426.00 Annually
