Description: Reporting to the Associate Director for Administration & Scholarship, the Acquisitions Librarian oversees the operations and staff of the Acquisitions/Serials department in Duke Law School’s Goodson Law Library. This position provides management of the collections budget and various additional funds, and plays a key role in the Library’s collection development and financial forecasting. This position is also expected to play a leading role in the Library’s migration to a new integrated library system, a campus-wide project scheduled to go live in 2024. This position is expected to be primarily in-person, with some opportunity for remote work.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this position must possess a M.L.I.S./equivalent graduate degree from an ALA-accredited program. Additionally, they should have experience in effectively managing organizational budgets and demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to thrive in a collegial environment is essential, along with exceptional problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and project management abilities. A strong service orientation and a deep commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion are highly valued in this role. Furthermore, the candidate should showcase effective oral and written communication skills to excel in the responsibilities of the position.
