Description:
The purpose of this position is to serve the informational, reference and reading needs of library patrons of all ages at ACPL and will be expected to perform any and all routine tasks necessary to the operation of the library system. This position works under the supervision of the Community Engagement Librarian. While most hours are Monday – Friday, monthly weekend or evening hours are required. This position will be scheduled to work at other library branches throughout Alamance County on a regular basis.
Work with staff across the Alamance County Public Libraries system to plan, organize & implement appropriate and engaging adult programming. Cultivate and maintain partnerships with appropriate organizations i.e., adult care facilities, program partners, etc. to promote reading and digital literacy in the county and assist with the library’s community engagement efforts.
Qualifications:
MLIS or some college with 2 to 3 years of library experience working in an adult programming role is required.
Flexibility in scheduling is required.
Ability to think quickly, handle interruptions, maintain self-control, and adapt to stressful situations with patrons is preferred.
Ability to equally engage with patrons of all abilities and backgrounds with a patient, enthusiastic, and genuine demeanor is required.
Ability to work with individuals of diverse populations with respect and equitable service is required.
Proficiency in written and verbal communication is required.
Ability to speak Spanish is preferred.
