Adult & Senior Services Coordinator - McDowell County Library
Description: Under general guidance from the Library Director, the Adult & Senior Coordinator is responsible for the planning, organization, and performance of all aspects of library service to adults and seniors for the McDowell County Public Library. Also performs clerical and circulation duties in accordance with established policies. Major responsibilities include programming, collection development, management of the Adult Services Department, patron assistance, outreach, and professional development. Plans, prepares, and conducts programs for young adults. Plans, prepares, and supervises summer reading programs for adults and seniors. Maintains adult and senior services records, statistics, and files. Recruits and coordinates time and duties of volunteers as needed. Stays within budget for materials and for programs. Is familiar with complaint procedures; documents and handles initial problems; refers these to the Library Director if necessary.
Qualifications: Strong written and oral communication and customer relations skills. Familiarity with library procedures and materials. Knowledge of adult and senior needs, issues and literature. Ability to deal tactfully with the public and with co-workers. Ability to work independently. Ability to bend, stoop, lift book bags, push loaded book cart.
