Description: Adult Services Librarians have the primary responsibility of providing programs and services in an Adult Services department in a Regional Library. Adult Services Librarians develop, promote and present programs in a variety of subject areas to a diverse population. They also share in the facilitation of monthly Book Discussions. Librarians provide one-on-one professional services to library patrons in areas such as job and resume preparation, research help, and developing custom reading lists. Most services are appointment-based. In addition, Librarians work on a public service desk providing excellent customer service. They assist patrons with reference, readers’ advisory, and technical assistance, and are responsible for the maintenance and merchandizing of areas of the library collection. In the absence of the managers, Librarians serve as Manager on Duty. On the system level, Librarians meet regularly with their peers to collaborate on programs and have opportunities to participate in larger systemwide initiatives.

Qualifications: Master's Degree in Librarianship or related field: MLS, MLIS, MIS, ML from an ALA-accredited program or NC program. Coursework in adult services and one year of professional librarian experience preferred.

Salary: $20.19 - $27.26 / hour
