Description: The Anne Belk Distinguished Fellow and Curator for Distinctive Collections will foster, shape, and grow the W.L. Eury Appalachian Collection, which is a premiere interdisciplinary, multi-format research library for the study of the Appalachian Region, and the Stock Car Racing Collection, which is one of the few public research collections documenting stock car and other forms of auto racing. To successfully engage in these efforts, the Curator will establish and maintain a visible presence on campus and beyond to engage and collaborate with diverse audiences and stakeholders, including the Stock Car Racing Collection Advisory Committee. The Curator will oversee collection development and all aspects of campus and public engagement involving the W.L. Eury Appalachian and Stock Car Racing Collections. The Curator will further be supported by multiple endowments which will fund the purchase of collection materials and a fellowship, which will fund research and creative activities as well as offer a supplement to the advertised salary. The position reports to the Coordinator of the Special Collections Research Center in the University Libraries and participates in the operations of the Special Collections Research Center, which, in addition to the collections mentioned earlier, is also home to other two collecting areas: University Archives & Records Management Services and Rare Books & Manuscripts. Our collections date from the 1400s to the present and support teaching, learning, research, and scholarship at App State and beyond.
Qualifications: American Library Association accredited Master’s Degree and/or other appropriate earned terminal degree from an accredited institution. At least five (5) years of appropriate experience, unless there are exceptional circumstances. Demonstrated experience curating manuscripts, rare books, printed material, media, and/or born-digital archives. Demonstrated experience in engaging professionally and collaborating with diverse audiences and communities. Recognized accomplishment in research or other germane creative activities. Recognized accomplishment in professional service to your institution, to professional associations, and/or to the public.
Salary: $62,000 - $65,000
