Archives Assistant - UNC School of the Arts

Description: Provides exceptional customer service by answering in-person and remote reference queries from patrons including students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the public; performs research as needed. Participates in broader library and archives initiatives. Assists in the arrangement, description, and preservation of archival collections, and creation or updating of EAD-encoded, DACS-compliant finding aids for all processed collections in ArchivesSpace. Supports research visits for patrons using archives material on-site in the Research Room; orients, assists, and monitors patrons, ensuring that all handling and usage guidelines are followed. Assists the University Archivist in planning and implementing exhibits and displays of archival material. Assists with outreach efforts to promote Archives collections through social media. · Assists the University Archivist in preparing for primary resource instruction sessions and class or group visits to the Archives. Assists the University Archivist in oversight of student workers and volunteers.

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in library services, office support, or related field; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Preferred Qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in a related field, such as library and/or information science, history, art history, etc. Additionally, candidates with a background or interest in the performing arts are encouraged to apply.
