Description: East Carolina University seeks an Assistant University Librarian (AUL) for Special Collections. This position is responsible for the development and management of the ECU Libraries Special Collections and related services to students, faculty, staff, alumni, retirees, researchers, and community members. Areas within Special Collections include Digital Curation, Health Sciences History Collections, Manuscripts, North Carolina Collection, Rare Books, University Archives, and University Records Management. The division has close working relationships with the library’s Preservation/Conservation staff and with Library IT Services. The AUL is a member of the ECU Libraries’ senior management team and helps establish and execute its strategic plan and goals and allocate resources.
Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include an ALA-accredited master’s degree or international equivalent and at least five years of experience in academic and/or health sciences libraries. Preferred candidates possess knowledge of current issues and trends in special collections and archives within academic research libraries. They demonstrate leadership skills and the ability to mentor faculty, staff, and students. Experience building and providing access to primary source and born-digital collections is valued. Strong collaboration skills, commitment to service, fundraising and grant writing experience, donor relations expertise, and a record of professional service and scholarly or creative achievement are also preferred.
Salary: $100,000 - 115,000 Commensurate with qualifications
