DESCRIPTION

The Boards & Commissions Librarian is a valuable part of the North Carolina Legislative Library, which is a part of the General Assembly of North Carolina. 

This position maintains a database of information on legislative appointments to various boards, commissions, and committees. It provides general Library support as a nonpartisan employee to the members of the Legislature and legislative staff, as well as limited services to other agencies and the public. 

The position also maintains an online repository of reports submitted to the General Assembly by state agencies; assists with collection management and copy cataloging; answers reference requests from legislative staff and the public; and performs other duties as assigned. Work is performed independently under the general guidance from the Legislative Librarian.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree plus two years of work experience, preferably in an academic, special, or law library. Knowledge of cataloging procedures and software, Access, and/or SQL a plus.
