Description: East Carolina University’s (ECU) Academic Library Services (ALS) seeks a Business Librarian to provide specialized services to the College of Business (COB), including five departments, the Miller School of Entrepreneurship, the School of Hospitality Leadership, and the Thomas D. Arthur Graduate School. Responsibilities include developing instructional materials, creating and maintaining research guides, and assisting the ECU community through consultations, instruction sessions, and desk shifts. The librarian manages a collection development budget for COB, participates in accreditation activities, leads outreach to COB faculty, and collaborates with faculty to enhance collections, services, and resource integration into teaching.
The librarian also engages in professional development, contributes to library, university, and professional service, and may participate in research/creative activities. A hybrid work schedule may be available, following the university’s Flexible Work Arrangements policy, after training. This is a 12-month, fixed-term permanent position contingent on funding availability.
Qualifications:
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
- A degree in business administration, management, marketing, or a related field (please provide transcript) or relevant subject expertise as evidenced by professional experience or non-degree coursework
- Knowledge of current and emerging trends in academic libraries and their application in business librarianship
- Knowledge of library subject specialist/liaison best practices and services
- Experience providing reference services
- Experience providing library instruction
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong customer service orientation
- Experience working collaboratively on a team
Salary: Recruitment starting at $56,600, Commensurate with Qualifications
