Description: The Children’s Services Librarian provides programs, resources, and services for children ages 0-11 and their families, caregivers, and educators at Steele Creek Library. The Children’s Services Librarian is committed to achieving the Library’s vision, mission, and strategies. The children’s services librarian provides developmentally appropriate programs for children ages birth to 11 years on a weekly basis, works cooperatively with the Children’s Services division on system-wide projects and initiatives, and plans, schedules and implements branch programs; develops and implements new ways of engaging the community and non-library users; and assists with training library service specialists and volunteers, monitors library collection and resources, schedules and runs monthly department meetings, manages and tracks children’s department budget, and works well independently.
Qualifications: Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution. NC Public Librarian certification required or must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
