The State Library of North Carolina (SLNC) is seeking an enthusiastic and driven individual to join our team! The Circulation & Machine Unit Supervisor supervises the Circulation and Machine Unit staff at the State Library of North Carolina – Accessible Books and Library Services and oversees operation of both units. 

The Circulation Unit is responsible for assigning mail cards, processing outgoing and incoming books and materials, transporting materials to and from US Post Office, assisting with vehicle operation and monitoring maintenance needs, and providing facility support. Circulation also contacts patrons with overdue books to get books returned. The Machine Unit is in charge of maintaining machine inventory, sending out, repairing, and checking in digital audio players and braille e-reading equipment. Both units work cooperatively and cross-train whenever possible.

Qualifications

  • Experience training staff or customers to use technology and/or equipment.
  • Experience planning, and/or directing work unit responsibilities, following established procedures and/or guidelines.
  • Experience in maintaining large collections of materials.
  • Valid Driver's License or have the ability to obtain for employment.
  • Experience working successfully as part of a team, establishing and/or maintaining effective working relationships using courtesy and tact in all interactions
  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma.
    AND
  • Four years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience, including one year as a lead worker 
    OR
    equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary: $41,655- $47,380
