Description:
The Public Library of Johnston County and Smithfield is looking for a forward–thinking, customer-focused, and computer savvy Collection Development Librarian to join our team. Under the direct supervision of the Library Director, the Collection Development Librarian is responsible for the daily operation of cataloging, acquisitions, and collection development in accordance with the Library’s Collection Development Policy. Collection Development management includes but is not limited to original and copy cataloging (multiple formats), preservation (binding), and deaccessioning of library materials. In addition, this position coordinates the ordering, receiving, and invoicing (acquisitions) of print materials, e-books, and electronic media, and tracks departmental spending. Supports the effective use of the library’s resources and equipment based on current best practices.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in library science (MLS or MLIS) from an ALA-accredited library college or
university
Two years of relevant experience working in a library environment
Library collection development and experience preferred
Original cataloging, collection development, and acquisitions experience
North Carolina Public Library Certification
Valid Driver’s License
