Description:
- Serves as the library's media relations contact and liaison with the DNCR marketing team, fostering effective working relationships with staff and participating in department-wide marketing meetings and calls.
- Oversees and coordinates SLNC marketing strategies.
- Manages the library’s social media presence, regularly contributing content to Twitter, Facebook, and the library’s blog.
- Collaborates with graphic designers to produce print and digital informational, promotional, and outreach materials, including videos, that effectively convey the library’s mission, services, and news to diverse audiences. Additionally, writes content for press releases, library social media accounts, and blogs.
- Leads communication efforts by developing strategies to improve perceptions of the library and boost engagement with its resources, services, and programs.
- Plans and manages multifaceted, moderately complex project plans for implementing and conducting both internally and externally funded library outreach and marketing activities.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge of policies, practices and trends related to library science, library outreach, marketing and library programming.
- Demonstrated experience writing and editing material for a variety of audiences for newsletters, social media, websites, or other outreach or communications initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience managing outreach projects or initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience using online publishing platforms such as content management systems (e.g. Drupal, Wordpress, etc.), social media, MailChimp/Constant Contact, and more.
Management Preferences:
- Familiarity with strategic communications in various formats.
- Demonstrated experience with Adobe Acrobat DC and Microsoft Suite applications.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the methods and techniques of planning, storyboarding, writing, photography/videography and editing material for publication via a variety of channels.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills and ability to maintain effective working relationships with State Library and departmental staff.
- Demonstrated knowledge of journalistic, communication, and/or publication principles and practices.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the techniques for disseminating information to the public through a variety of news media.
- Demonstrated experience writing press releases or articles for publication.
Salary Range: $44,588-$70,000
