Description: Provides professional social work services in a public library setting, implementing community-centered services and events that are responsive to the existing and emergent needs of the community, including advice, basic counseling, referral and intervention for residents of all ages who are experiencing social services related needs. Navigates complex social service and human service systems to improve education, empowerment and positive outcomes. Collaborates with and trains library staff to integrate social work services into overall library services; offers training to staff of other agencies and community members. This is a full-time position with full county benefits. This position is funded for one year. Some evening and weekend work required. Two positions are available.
Qualifications: Master's or bachelor’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and directly related experience; Masters or Bachelor’s degree in counseling in a human services field and directly related experience; Masters Degree in library science with certification, coursework or concentration in social work, and directly related experience. Requires valid N.C. driver’s license, good driving record and transportation for use at work. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
