Description: The County Librarian provides professional guidance to a staff of sixteen and is directly responsible for all public services, budget management, and internal operations necessary to the efficient management of a county library. This employee is the library’s ambassador and is responsible for promoting the library and its services in the community. The County Librarian also participates in planning and budgeting with the Director, works with the other County Librarians in regional activities, plans and facilitates the meetings of the local library board, and maintains a good working relationship with the local library board, local Friends of the Library, and local funding agencies. The County Librarian directly supervises five employees and reports to the ARL Director of Libraries.
Qualifications: An ALA or regionally accredited MLS/MLIS is required with a minimum of 3 years of public library administrative/management experience and North Carolina Public Librarian Certification. Excellent communication skills and management skills, experience managing budgets, ability to plan and direct general and special library functions.
Salary: $48,800 - $52,000
