DESCRIPTION
Shepard-Pruden Memorial Library is located in historic downtown Edenton, the county seat of Chowan County, in Northeastern North Carolina in the area known as the Inner Banks. The beautiful, historic, town of Edenton is known as one of America’s prettiest towns. Edenton also made Smithsonian Magazine’s list of America’s best towns. Located on the waterfront, Edenton is a wonderful location for boating, fishing and kayaking.
General Responsibilities and Duties:
Provides leadership, direction and professional guidance in the delivery of library services in Chowan County. Supervises staff of 8. Responsible for all operations and management of a very active county library. Must have experience in library and office technology, library programing, personnel management, budgeting, and computer skills. Must be able to pitch in and help the staff when needed and perform reference and desk duties. Reports to the Director of the Regional Library.
QUALIFICATIONS
MLS from ALA-accredited institution; minimum three years of public library experience; supervisory experience; eligible for certification by the North Carolina Public Library Certification Board; technology skills and high energy. Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with community groups and county officials as well as work as a team member with the Shepard Memorial Library staff, 3 other County Librarians and the Regional Director.
SALARY
$49,692 - $52,164 / Depending on qualifications and full benefits. A 35 hour a week position. 9 hours of sick and vacation leave accrued per month.
