Library:
Washington County Library – part of the Pettigrew Regional Library System serving Perquimans, Chowan, Washington and Tyrrell Counties. The Library is located in historic downtown Plymouth, the county seat of Washington County, in Northeastern North Carolina. It is located close to the Albemarle Sound and many rivers, making it ideal for kayaking, water sports and fishing.
General Responsibilities and Duties:
Provides leadership, direction and professional guidance in the delivery of library services in Washington County. The preferred candidate must have experience engaging community partners. Supervises staff of 4. Responsible for all operations and management. Must have experience in library and office technology, library programing, personnel management, budgeting, and computer skills. Must be able to pitch in and help the staff when needed and perform reference and desk duties. Reports to the Director of the Regional Library.
Qualifications:
- MLS from ALA-accredited institution
- Minimum three years of public library experience
- Supervisory experience
- Eligible for certification by the North Carolina Public Library Certification Board
- Technology skills and high energy. Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with community groups and county officials as well as work as a team member with the Washington County Library staff, 3 other County Librarians and the Regional Director.
Salary: $48,235 - 50,000 /yr. + full benefits, at a minimum, depending on qualifications. A 35 hour a week position.
