Description: The County Librarian provides professional guidance to a staff of twenty-one and is directly responsible for all public services, budget management, and internal operations (including facilities maintenance) necessary to the efficient management of a county library. This employee is the library’s ambassador and is responsible for promoting the library and its services in the community. The County Librarian also participates in planning and budgeting with the Director, works with the other County Librarians in regional activities, plans and facilitates the meetings of the local library board, and maintains a good working relationship with the local library board, local Friends groups, and local funding agencies. The County Librarian directly supervises five employees and reports to the Appalachian Regional Library Director of Libraries.
Qualifications: An MLS or MLIS from an ALA- or regionally-accredited institution, a minimum of three years of public library anagement experience, NC Public Librarian Certification, excellent management and communication skills, experience with managing a budget, and the ability to direct the work of all library staff is required.
Salary: $48,000 - $55,000
