Elon University is pleased to accept applications for the role of Dean of the Carol Grotnes Belk Library. The Dean will advance the culture of engaged intellectual inquiry at Elon University and support the goals of the university’s strategic plan for 2030—Boldly Elon—through thoughtful and intentional leadership aligned with that vision’s four main themes: Learn, Thrive, Connect, and Rise. 

Additionally, the Dean fosters collaboration and experimentation with emerging tools and practices, positioning the library as a leader in reimagining library services for the future. By embracing emerging technologies, fostering collaborative partnerships, and anticipating future trends in library services and resources, the Dean will guide the Carol Grotnes Belk Library in shaping a vibrant and innovative intellectual environment for the Elon community. 

Qualifications

Education
• An MLS degree from an ALA-accredited program required.
• An additional graduate degree preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to build relationships and work in partnership with multiple constituencies.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to centering diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Experience
• A minimum of 8 years of related work experience in a higher-education library setting.
• Demonstrated progressive leadership and ability to manage a complex organization.
• A record of identifying, assessing, and successfully implementing innovative ideas, services, and technologies.
• A successful history of staff recruitment, development, and team building.
