Description
As director for Salem Academy & College's library services and resources, this position provides direction and supervision that ensures the library's mission and goals align with the institution's mission and strategic initiatives. This position provides leadership in library development in the area of user services and resources, instruction, outreach, cooperative initiatives, and budget management. As a member of the college faculty this position also participates in faculty governance and committee (s) membership. The director leads library personnel and works closely with the assistant directors of IT services. The director provides library instruction services for the college's first-year student courses. This position reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of the College.
Qualifications
Required qualifications include a master's degree in library and information science from ALA accredited school, record of success as a library administrator, experience providing information literacy instruction, demonstrated ability to act as an advocate for the library with both internal and external partners, demonstrated ability to foster a collaborative and equitable approach to leadership, and excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred qualifications include demonstration of strong analytical skills, familiarity with current and future academic library trends, and demonstration of initiative with strong project management skills in leading projects.
