Description: The Head of Collections Strategy provides leadership, vision and strategic direction for the Duke University Libraries in the development, preservation and management of the Libraries’ general collections, ensuring an appropriate scope and caliber of the resources which the libraries collect and provide access to in support of the mission of Duke University. S/He is responsible for significant aspects of Duke’s collections budget, which includes the allocation, management, and analysis of Duke’s financial resources and is deeply involved in negotiating and managing some of Duke’s largest and most complex deals with publishers and other vendors. This position works especially closely with subject librarians and members of Duke’s technical services, helping both to guide collections work in those areas as well as to support the collections work of those individuals. It is also part of Duke’s research, Collections and Scholarly Communications Leadership Team, which includes Duke’s core research and teaching support departments.

Qualifications: Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program. Three years of progressively responsible professional experience related to collection development in an academic or research library.
