Description

The Carl A. Rudisill Library of Lenoir-Rhyne University (LR) seeks a candidate to serve as the Health Sciences and Digital Scholarship Librarian. This is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure-track faculty position in Hickory, N.C.

The Health Sciences and Digital Scholarship Librarian will focus on information literacy sessions, reference and research services, and collection management, primarily supporting undergraduate and graduate health sciences programs such as nursing, DNP, public health, exercise science, occupational therapy and future health science programs. 

Additionally, the role includes collaboration with faculty, students, and staff on digital scholarship, data analytics, and online academic publishing. The Health Sciences and Digital Scholarship Librarian will provide library resources and services to all LR faculty, students, and staff as well as community members. This position promotes library excellence in alignment with university policies and guidelines to advance the mission of the library and the university.

Qualifications

  • Required: Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited library/information science program.
  • Required: Minimum of 1 year as a health sciences librarian.
  • Preferred: Additional degree in health sciences.
  • Preferred: 3+ years of academic library experience.

    Other Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Considerable knowledge of library collections and operations.
  • Knowledge of health sciences databases (e.g., MEDLINE, CINAHL).
  • Familiarity with ACRL’s Framework for Information Literacy.
  • Experience with library instruction, online catalogs, course management systems and instructional technologies.
  • Experience with current reference practices utilizing a variety of modalities
  • Experience using effective assessment tools and analyses
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and team-building skills.
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusive practices.
