Description: This is a 12-months per year fixed-term position. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until a candidate has been selected for hire. The wide range of work experience gained through this position will enable the resident to build essential skills and plan career path options after the residency. The resident will enrich Hunter Library by bringing new ideas and perspectives, contributing to projects and strategic initiatives, and support our commitment to building a diverse workforce and fostering diversity in the profession. The resident will complete one year primarily focused on reference and instruction and diversity, equity, and inclusion goals. By the end of the first, largely introductory year, the resident should be prepared to begin more extensive exposure to one of the Library departments, while continuing work with DEI. The next assignments to a department will be made in consultation with the Associate Dean and Library Leadership.
Qualifications: ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent received. Proof of degree completion is needed by hire date. Ability to learn inquiry-based teaching methods. Ability to support research and information needs of various colleges and departments. Demonstrated ability to advance the University goals of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Familiarity with undergraduate research methods. Strong interpersonal skills, multicultural perspectives, and service orientation.
