Description

The Instructional Technology Librarian at James B. Duke Memorial Library, Johnson C. Smith University (a private HBCU in Charlotte, NC), will join a dedicated team to deliver creative, student-centered library services. This role emphasizes in-person and digital instruction, focusing on information literacy for undergraduate and graduate students, while collaborating with faculty and campus partners to support undergraduate research and career readiness. The librarian will deliver content in-person, online, and in blended formats, and will work with colleagues to develop services that enhance teaching, learning, and research. Additionally, the librarian will lead the library’s transition to innovative, technology-rich, and collaborative learning spaces, including Makerspaces and team projects, and will propose ways to engage faculty, students, and the community through events, lifelong learning, and promotion of library services.

Qualifications

Master’s in Library Information Science (ALA-accredited) with coursework in information literacy and technology. Knowledge of pedagogical practices and experience using technology and creativity to enhance instruction. Proficient with Springshare’s LibApps, discovery tools, library resources, databases, and current trends. Strong teaching, customer service, and communication skills. Able to work with diverse communities, participate in outreach, and learn new technologies. Experience or interest in educational technology planning and assessment. Skilled in Microsoft Office, online meeting tools (Zoom, Teams), and content management (OneDrive, Dropbox). Enthusiastic about library innovations. Willingness to work nights/weekends as needed.

Salary 

50,000-54,000 / Annually
